Following an attempted assassination attempt on Saturday in Butler, Pennsylvania, friends and relatives of the gunshot victims at his event contributed more than $265,000, thanks to a GoFundMe that former President Donald Trump approved.
On Sunday morning, Donald Trump Jr., his son, posted the event’s URL, which included a picture of his father on stage with his fist up and his face covered in blood:
The page has raised $265,144 of its $1,000,000 target as of early Sunday.
“President Donald Trump has approved using this account to receive donations for the families and supporters injured or murdered in today’s heinous and violent attempt on their lives.” We will send all donations to these patriotic Americans in their time of loss and healing. The GoFundMe page said, “May God bless and unify our nation.”
Alina Habba, a senior advisor and attorney for Trump, also posted the link on Sunday. “President Trump has allowed this to aid the innocent victim and others injured at yesterday’s event as a consequence of the assassination attempt on President Trump,” the writer said. This is not the America of today.
After receiving an injury during the event, Trump hurried off the platform to tend to his fans. According to Breitbart News, two rallygoers suffered serious injuries, and one person died.
Following the murder attempt, the furious former president still intends to attend the forthcoming Republican convention in Wisconsin, the site said on Sunday.
Two hours after the shooting, Trump posted on Truth Social, expressing his condolences for the deceased and revealing that the man had sustained an earshot.
One of the bullets that struck me went through my right ear’s top portion. As soon as I heard bullets, felt the bullet ripping through my skin, and heard a sound, I knew something was wrong. When there was a significant amount of blood, I became aware of what was happening. He said, “Blessed be America.”
Since then, the FBI has verified that Bethel Parks, Pennsylvania, resident Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, was the gunman.
The Republican convention next week will take place two blocks from the location where President Teddy Roosevelt escaped an attempted assassination in 1912, according to Breitbart News. Trump’s macho swagger reminds me of the last Republican populist president who famously declared, “It takes more than that to kill a Bull Moose.” He displayed this defiant raised fist in defiance of the murderer.
