With a $100 million advertising campaign, a pro-Trump SuperPAC is attempting to support the Trump campaign.
Politico obtained an internal document from MAGA announcing the effort, which would center around the days leading up to Labor Day. Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Arizona, Georgia, and North Carolina are the important swing states that it will target.
The advertisements will target Vice President Kamala Harris’s immigration history and her tenure as a prosecutor, according to a person with knowledge of the organization.
The source did not clarify if criticism of her prosecutorial record will center on charges that she was overly forgiving or that she imprisoned innocent people—two rather different points of view that have been advanced by many connected to and outside of the Trump campaign.
MAGA has raised most of the $120 million since July 15, the start of the Republican National Convention, according to someone connected with the group who spoke with the source.
Following months of former President Donald Trump endorsing Vice President Joe Biden’s inexperienced presidential campaign, the president withdrew and endorsed Harris, causing a $200 million spike in support funding to flood to Democrats in the first week. Following the announcement of Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) as her running partner, Harris had another surge in fundraising, reaching $36 million in less than a day.
Spurred on by heightened fervor and favorable media attention, Harris’s campaign has altered the Trump team’s calculations, transforming what appeared to be a certain conclusion into a draw. According to polls, Trump and Harris are about even.
