Elon Musk, the owner of X and CEO of Tesla, declared this week that he would be open to working for Donald Trump’s government.
On X, Musk posted a picture of himself with the words “D.O.G.E.” written on what seemed to be a podium.
The words “Dept. of Government Efficiency” were underneath.
In his article, Musk stated, “I am eager to serve.”
Musk’s statement follows a previous talk he had in an X Space with former President Donald Trump, during which they discussed a variety of subjects, including government expenditures, the economy, rising food costs, and the fact that the US does not “have a president right now.”
Musk suggested the establishment of a “government efficiency committee” in their talk to “guarantee” the “use” of public funds “in a decent way” and cut down on government waste.
Musk stated, “It would be fantastic to have a government efficiency committee that examines these matters and ensures the wise use of public funds—the hard-earned money of the taxpayers.” “And if we establish such a commission, I would be delighted to help.”
Musk went on to say that the US government should cut back on spending, claiming that every 100 days, it was “adding” about “a trillion dollars to the deficit.”
Musk expressed his belief that we are adding a trillion dollars to the national debt every 100 days. Furthermore, the national debt’s interest payments now outweigh the defense budget. It is almost one trillion dollars, and it is still growing.
The Peterson Foundation’s debt clock currently shows that the debt is around $35 trillion.
