Democratic leaders across the country are trying to house a lot of illegal immigrants in apartments and homes that would normally go to young Americans.
Democrats in California’s Assembly have passed a bill that would give illegal immigrants who crossed the border through weak border controls tax breaks when they buy a home.
“When undocumented people are not allowed to participate in these [housing] programs, they miss out on a crucial way to ensure financial security and personal stability for themselves and their families,” said Rep. Joaquin Arambula, a Democrat from Fresno Valley who represents a large and poor Latino community.
According to a group that actually supports immigrants, the gift will make it harder to own a home for the 85 percent of Californian families who were born in the U.S. and earn less than $80,000 a year, and spend more than 30 percent of their income on housing.
Meanwhile, in Canada, the government’s policy on mass migration is keeping many young people from buying homes, lowering the birth rate, making Canada’s homeless population grow quickly, and giving a lot of money to older investors. In July, Canada’s pro-immigration Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that many young people will lose the retirement savings that their parents built up by owning a home.
In Oregon, Democrats gave money to a contractor who is giving $30,000 to foreigners who are not American citizens who want to buy a home. This is happening even though it is against the law to discriminate against Americans.
GOP lawmaker from Oregon, Rep. Ed Diehl, said, “UNREAL.” People who work for the government are giving illegal immigrants $30,000 handouts to buy homes in Oregon with money that comes from taxpayers. “Can’t even apply if you’re an American,” he wrote. On Facebook, he wrote, “It’s hard for American citizens in Oregon to find and buy a house. There are not enough homes in this state. People in Oregon have worked hard for their tax dollars, and I can’t believe they are being used to help non-US citizens buy homes.”
Kamala Harris is running for president and is talking about an “Opportunity Economy” in which first-time owners would get about $25,000 in help. On August 16, she said:
“We also know that the down payment amounts have grown as the cost of homes has increased. People who want to buy a house often have to save for years, but it’s still not enough. In addition, while we work to solve the housing problem, my administration will give $25,000 to first-time house buyers to help with the down payment on a new home.”
In a tweet on August 16, GOP vice-presidential candidate JD Vance said, “Kamala Harris wants to give $25,000 to illegal immigrants to buy American homes. This will only make the housing problem in our country worse. It’s not good enough. As a country, we should make it easy and cheaper for people to buy houses.”
