President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have been in charge of the country for three and a half years. Their party is trying to sell a message of “joy,” but the truth is very different.
Since they took office in January 2021, rent has gone up by 22%.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average rent for a home in a U.S. city went up 22% from January 2021, when Biden and Harris first took office, to July 2024.
In fact, the Biden-Harris administration’s policies that caused prices to rise are to blame. These policies include the large number of legal and illegal immigrants that came into the country. At the same time, Democrats, who support the Biden-Harris government, are trying to rent out apartments and houses to illegal immigrants when they should be going to young Americans.
Breitbart News said:
“In California, Democrats in the state Assembly passed a bill that would give illegal immigrants who crossed the border illegally tax breaks when they buy a home.”
According to a group that supports immigrants, the gift will make it harder for the 85 percent of Californian-born families who earn less than $80,000 a year and spend more than 30 percent of their income on housing. This will make housing costs go up for everyone.
This comes at a time when Harris is trying to cover up the problem by offering to help young people buy homes and “take on corporate renters and cap unfair rent rises.” She is not willing to deal with the real problems.
Sen. JD Vance (R-OH), on the other hand, has been very open about why housing costs are so high. He has directly linked it to the policies of Harris and Biden, saying that their policies have made millions of illegal immigrants compete with legal Americans for cheap housing.
Vance said, “There are 20 million illegal immigrants here who shouldn’t be here. They are fighting with Americans for limited houses.”
“Number two, Kamala Harris has pushed for the highest interest rates, which make homes completely out of reach for most people. For that reason, these rules hurt regular Americans,” he said.
