Recently, former President Donald Trump said that he would pursue criminal charges against Google “at the highest levels” when he returns to office. He said that the tech giant was involved in “illegal behavior” by lowering him in search results, which he called “bias.”

The former president said on Truth Social that Google “has illegally used their system of only revealing and showing bad stories about Trump” while at the same time “only showing good stories about Harris.”

The post goes on to say, “This is ILLEGAL ACTIVITY, and I hope the Justice Department will charge them legally for this obvious Interference of Elections. If they don’t, I will pursue them to the fullest extent of the law when I win the election and become the President of the United States!”

Much like Trump’s promise to go after Google, many cases of election meddling have come to light in the lead-up to the 2024 election. Finally, a study from the Media Research Center (MRC) showed that the search giant is “padding” its results to favor Kamala Harris:

“When Republicans ran for office, Google hid their campaign pages. Now it’s very clear that the search giant fills up its political candidate search results with left-leaning old news stories, many of which are against Republicans and either neutral or for Democrats. People will have to wade through skewed news to get to a candidate’s website, let alone the web results for their searches.”

On September 6, American experts searched for “Donald Trump presidential race 2024” and “Kamala Harris presidential race 2024” to see where Google Search would put the websites for each candidate’s presidential campaign. For both searches, the first few hits were news stories from CNN and The New York Times, which are known for their lefty bias.

“The campaign website for former President Donald Trump came up sixth in search results for “donald trump presidential race 2024.” But before getting to Trump’s website, people would be able to click on seven stories from left-wing sites. There was a list of “Top Stories” from The New York Times, Politico, and The Washington Post.

MRC did a study in June that showed Google was hiding Donald Trump’s campaign site and putting Joe Biden’s site at the top of search results while Biden was still running.
