The federal government has released information showing that more than 155,000 immigrants have been found guilty or are being charged with criminal traffic crimes. This comes at a time when Americans’ car insurance costs are rapidly rising.

A study from the Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement office showed that a lot of dangerous, drunk, drugged, or careless drivers come from other countries.

For instance, the data shows that 77,074 migrants who are not in jail have been found guilty of criminal traffic crimes and another 46,269 migrants are currently facing criminal traffic charges.

Although ICE is not holding these refugees, other government departments may do so. There were a lot of drivers who crossed the border years before President Joe Biden’s deputies brought in about 10 million illegal, temporary, and almost legal immigrants.

The numbers also show that 2,663 immigrants have been found guilty of stealing a car but are not being held by ICE. Another 1,593 refugees are being charged with theft but are not being held.

It’s not clear from the numbers how many Americans have been hurt or killed by foreign drivers.

Patrick Lechleitner, who is working as head of ICE, gave the information to Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-TX) on September 25. Lechleitner wrote that cities’ “sanctuary” laws can protect dangerous criminals, who then strike again in the same neighborhoods.

The cost of car insurance goes up when more people crash and steal cars.

In Springfield, Ohio, insurance rates are going up by about 30 percent because of the 20,000 Haitian immigrants who are crashing and ruining their cars so often. This shows a link between the White House’s immigration policy and Americans’ monthly insurance rates.

An Illinois man named Dustin Geisel said in a September 8 TikTok video that the influx of Haitians caused his car insurance rates to go up:

“I live in Springfield, Ohio, where a lot of Haitians have come to live. They don’t know how to drive, so there were a lot of car crashes. My car insurance has gone up a lot because of that. You have to have car insurance because the government says so. At this point, I might as well take out another loan to cover my car. I thought, “You know what? I’ll look around and see if I can find a better deal.” I don’t have a chance because every other insurance company gave me the same rate or even more.”
