A frustrated South Carolina sheriff criticized the Biden-Harris administration’s offer of $750 in “immediate” relief funds to Hurricane Helene survivors, saying it was ridiculously small compared to what they gave Ukraine and that people in the worst-hit areas still don’t have access to the internet.
“That presidential candidate talks about the $750. Hey, what about all the money you give to Ukraine and other places that want to kill us but don’t want to help?” Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright told FOX News reporter Sara Carter in a video she posted to X on Tuesday, “Why don’t you just give that money to them? That’s who you want to give it to in the first place.”
Carter said that many of the people he talked to would not take the $750. He did the interview in Chimney Rock, North Carolina, without an internet link and then posted it to X.
Wright replied, “Well, they said, ‘Get on your computer and phone.’ Do you not see how terrible it is? They don’t have a computer or phone!”
Carter said, “Up here there’s nothing; there’s no phone or way to talk. It’s not possible to connect to the internet without a Starlink net.”
Wright also said, “Thank you, Elon Musk.”
Breitbart News said on Monday that more than 255,000 people in the southeast were still without power.
Wright told the Biden-Harris White House to “stay away.”
He told her, “If you’re going to do the things you say you’re going to do, we’d rather you stay out of the way and let the good people in the foothills and mountain area take care of their own affairs. You’re nothing but a boat anchor.”
