The richest person in the world, Elon Musk, gave an extra $75 million to Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and other Republicans to help them win the upcoming November elections.
The gift by makes him one of the biggest donors to Republican campaigns this election season, according to reports that came out this week.
The gift was made to America PAC, a super PAC that Musk started in May to help Trump in his run for the White House again.
“Common sense, centrist values is all the America PAC is after,” the father of SpaceX and Tesla said on his social media site X on Tuesday.
Musk used to be less visible when it came to politics, but he did show up at GOP events in 2022. Since then, he’s become more involved, and earlier this month, he jumped on stage with former President Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania.
FEC records show that the America PAC, which was created in May, has spent a total of $102 million on the presidential race so far.
However, America PAC is not like most super PACs in that it does not pay a lot of money to buy expensive TV time to run ads. Forms filed by the group show that it is mainly supporting phone banking, direct mail, and texts. According to ngpvan.com, phone banking is the act of getting a group of volunteers to call voters as part of a political effort.
On the other hand, Musk said on X that he will start a multi-day speaking trip through Pennsylvania, which is a huge swing state in November.
Musk wrote, “From tomorrow night through Monday, I will be giving a series of talks all over Pennsylvania.”
People who sign the petition have to give their personal contact details. This list has full names, cell phone numbers, email addresses, and mailing addresses.
Musk has been trying to get people to vote for Trump in his race against Kamala Harris, the Democratic candidate. This donation comes at the same time.
Musk openly supported Trump on July 13, just minutes after the first attempt on Trump’s life at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
In October, the 45th president went back to that spot for another gathering. Musk joined him on stage wearing a black “Make America Great Again” hat and making fun of his name by calling himself “Dark MAGA.”
