The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) revealed this week that Israeli intelligence found the financial hub of the terrorist group Hezbollah, including a bunker under a hospital in south Beirut that contains hundreds of millions of dollars in cash and gold.

Israel intensified its campaign against Hezbollah on Sunday night, launching several attacks to reduce Iran’s financial backing for the terrorist organization.

“The Israeli Air Force executed a number of accurate strikes on these financial hubs for Hezbollah,” IDF Spokesperson Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari stated at a briefing.

An subterranean vault with tens of millions of dollars in cash and gold was one of our primary targets last night. He stated that the funds were being used to support Hezbollah’s assaults on Israel.

Hagari continued by mentioning another bunker that was allegedly also stocked with gold and cash, located beneath a hospital in Beirut, the capital. He added, though, that the vault had not yet been targeted by the IDF.

“We have estimates that this bunker contains around half a billion dollars in gold and dollar bills,” Hagari said. “The state of Lebanon could and still can be rebuilt with this money.”

During the briefing, Hagari even went so far as to present a map showing the precise location of the bunker, which is located beneath Al-Sahel Hospital in the Dahiyeh neighborhood of southern Beirut, which is where a significant amount of Hezbollah’s headquarters are located.

He asked Lebanese authorities and international organizations to prevent Hezbollah from using “the money for terror and to attack Israel,” adding that the Israeli Air Force is monitoring the facility.

Declaring that Israel is at war with Hezbollah and not the Lebanese, he said the IDF would not strike the hospital.

Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi, the IDF Chief of Staff, said earlier Monday that more than two dozen targets of the Hezbollah-affiliated financial firm Al-Qard Al-Hassan had also been hit.

“In Lebanon, we hit nearly 30 targets,” Halevi said in a statement.

The remarks came as the IDF said it has been continuing to hit about 300 Hezbollah locations in Lebanon.
