Yelp is overflowing with phony negative ratings for the McDonald’s restaurant where former President Donald Trump worked the stove and served patrons on Sunday.
Yelp, a website where consumers evaluate local businesses online, has temporarily removed the review feature for the eatery in Feasterville-Trevose, Pennsylvania, due to the resolutely negative response.
According to Breitbart News, Trump visited the location and performed a variety of duties throughout his shift, including cooking and serving customers via drive-through.
Vice President Kamala Harris allegedly stated on her CV that she had never worked at a McDonald’s while in college.
The fast-food chain McDonald’s said in a statement on Sunday that it has no records of Harris ever working there, adding, “We and our franchises don’t have records for all positions dating back to the 1980s.”
In the days since Yelp has been quick to clarify its stance on the fraudulent reviews that followed Trump’s initiatives.
“We’ve temporarily disabled the posting of content to this page as we work to investigate whether the content you see here reflects real consumer experiences rather than the recent events,” a Yelp message informed users, adding that the company doesn’t take a position on the matter.
According to the Independent, before Yelp stopped the review feature, people left ratings on the website that ranged from humorous to more somber political remarks over the hoax.
Yelp has a policy of flagging and temporarily disabling reviews on companies that have drawn more attention from the public.
According to the corporation, 986 warnings about the company that was garnering public attention were posted on business pages in 2023. These alerts have resulted in the removal of nearly 50,000 reviews.
Since the majority of McDonald’s restaurants are independently owned and run, franchise owners are essentially free to invite anybody they want to run the drive-through, even if they must go by certain rules.
