Brendan Carr, President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, is already striking the fear of God into Big Tech and the left-wing censors they love to protect. In a recent appearance on Sunday Morning Futures with Jackie DeAngelis, Carr praised Elon Musk’s efforts to restore free speech on X (formerly Twitter) and made it clear that under Trump’s leadership, the FCC is ready to take on tech tyranny.

“What Twitter has done, what X has done now with Elon Musk in terms of restoring freedom of speech, that’s so important and integral to this country,” Carr said. “We need to continue to move in that direction; we need to move away from government control and toward freedom of speech.”

Carr didn’t mince words about the role Facebook and other platforms have played in what he called a “censorship cartel,” where tech giants collude with advertisers to silence voices that don’t toe the leftist line. This kind of censorship, Carr argued, goes against the very fabric of America, a nation built on bold ideas and the right to express them.

Carr also addressed the elephant in the room: TikTok. While the popular Chinese-owned app is tied up in legal challenges, Carr made it clear that everyone is looking to Trump for decisive action. “I think we’re all going to follow President Trump’s lead on that one, but what’s clear is we need a lot more competition,” Carr stated.

Carr’s priorities for the FCC under Trump include dismantling the woke agenda infecting government institutions, such as the promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. “There’s no place for that in the FCC,” he declared.

The nominee also commented on tech billionaire Mark Zuckerberg, expressing hope that even the Meta CEO might embrace free speech—though we won’t hold our breath on that one.

Carr’s nomination signals that Trump is assembling a team ready to take on Big Tech, restore free speech, and dismantle the leftist echo chamber. Democrats are terrified, and they should be. Under Trump, the FCC won’t be a tool for Silicon Valley’s censorship cartel—it’ll be a battering ram against it.

While the left obsesses over diversity quotas and virtue signaling, Trump’s FCC will focus on what really matters: protecting free speech, fostering competition, and ensuring that Americans have access to a truly open internet. The days of unchecked Big Tech power are coming to an end, and it’s about time.
