President Donald Trump is wasting no time in putting America first in global trade, announcing that starting Monday, all steel and aluminum imports into the U.S. will be slapped with a 25% tariff. Speaking aboard Air Force One, Trump made it clear that these tariffs apply to all countries, including Canada and Mexico, marking another aggressive move to restore American manufacturing and economic independence.

“Any steel coming into the United States is going to have a 25% tariff,” Trump told reporters. When asked about aluminum, he confirmed: “Aluminum, too.”

Trump’s “Reciprocal Tariffs” Will Punish Unfair Trade Practices

Trump also announced plans for “reciprocal tariffs” to level the playing field for American exporters. If a foreign country slaps high duties on American goods, Trump will hit them back with equivalent tariffs—a direct challenge to the globalist trade deals that have weakened U.S. industry for decades.

“If they are charging us 130% and we’re charging them nothing, it’s not going to stay that way,” Trump declared.

These moves come much earlier in his presidency than during his first term, showing that Trump 2.0 is laser-focused on rebuilding American industry and protecting workers from unfair foreign competition.

Financial Markets React—But Trump Stays the Course

The stock market reacted negatively to Trump’s tariff talk on Friday, with consumer sentiment surveys showing increased concerns over inflation due to potential price hikes. But Trump is unfazed, standing firm on his belief that strong trade policies will bring jobs and prosperity back to the U.S.

While Trump recently paused 25% tariffs on all Canadian and Mexican imports for 30 days, he has already hit Chinese goods with a 10% import tax, and more retaliatory measures are expected this week.

America First—No More Free Rides for Foreign Competitors

For too long, America has played the “nice guy” in global trade while other countries have taken advantage with massive tariffs, currency manipulation, and unfair trade agreements. Trump is making it clear:

  • Steel and aluminum dumping is over.
  • Foreign countries will no longer rip off U.S. manufacturers.
  • Trade deals will work for American workers—not globalist elites.

Trump’s America-first trade war has begun—and the world is on notice.
