President Donald Trump is making it clear: any attempt to boycott Tesla over Elon Musk’s government role is “illegal and collusive.” As protests against Tesla ramp up across the U.S. and Europe, and its stock continues to plummet, Trump is throwing his full support behind Musk, calling out what he sees as a politically motivated attack on one of America’s great success stories.

The controversy stems from Musk’s involvement in Trump’s administration as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), an agency tasked with slashing wasteful government spending. While conservatives applaud Musk’s efforts to drain the bureaucratic swamp, the left is waging war on Tesla, claiming that Musk’s alignment with Trump has tarnished the company’s brand.

Tesla’s stock has taken a beating, dropping 15% on Monday alone, wiping out $16 billion in value and making it the worst-performing stock in the S&P 500 this year. Musk himself has seen his net worth shrink by a staggering $100 billion since the beginning of 2025. But according to Trump, this is no market correction—it’s a coordinated political takedown by the radical left.

On Truth Social, Trump denounced the boycott efforts as an “illegal and collusive” attempt to punish Musk for his patriotism. “To Republicans, Conservatives, and all great Americans, Elon Musk is ‘putting it on the line’ in order to help our Nation, and he is doing a FANTASTIC JOB,” Trump wrote. “But the Radical Left Lunatics, as they often do, are trying to illegally and collusively boycott Tesla, one of the World’s great automakers, and Elon’s ‘baby,’ in order to attack and do harm to Elon, and everything he stands for.” Trump went on to say that he planned to buy a brand-new Tesla as a show of confidence in Musk and his contributions to making America great again.

Meanwhile, Tesla dealerships are becoming ground zero for anti-Musk protests. A Tesla showroom in Maryland was defaced with anti-Musk graffiti, and in the UK, leftist activists have plastered London with fake Tesla advertisements mocking the company as a “Swasticar,” in reference to Musk’s hand gesture at Trump’s inauguration—a gesture the left-wing media laughably claimed resembled a Nazi salute.

Musk, for his part, has brushed off the hysteria. Speaking to Fox Business, he responded to Tesla’s stock decline with a Monty Python reference: “But look on the bright side! Always look on the bright side of life!” He has also fired back at his critics on X, writing: “The radical leftists are really upset that they had to take time out of their busy day praising Hamas to call me a Nazi.”

With Tesla’s stock floundering and the markets reacting to Trump’s aggressive tariff policies, one thing is certain: Musk isn’t going anywhere. The billionaire has committed to running Tesla while leading DOGE, proving that he won’t back down from either the business world or the political battlefield. The left may be coming for him, but with Trump in his corner, it looks like Musk is ready for the fight.
