Socialist state politicians in New York want to raise taxes to pay for the immigrants who are coming to New York City making it hard for the city to keep up.

State Senator Julia Salazar (D-Brooklyn), who was cited in the New York Post’s story this week, stated:

“We should raise taxes because it’s the right thing to do from an economic point of view to cover all the costs of running our state. Even if there weren’t more people seeking refuge in our city and state, I’d say this is a good time for the rich to pay their proper share of taxes.”

State Senator Jabari Brisport, a Democrat from Brooklyn, stated in the interim, “We are still preparing to increase taxes on the rich through the exact same revenue-raising bills that we’ve been fighting for years.”

Reactions to the Post’s report on social media were swift. One person wrote, “Spoiler, we already foot the bill for all of these migrants through our taxes.”

“According to state records, this tax should be paid by everyone who voted Democrat. They supported open borders, so they need to pay for it,” responded another person.

Breitbart News reported this week that New York City, which is a “sanctuary city,” is getting ready to cut extra for its police officers and city services to pay for the costs of tens of thousands of migrants who have crossed the border along with illegal immigrants who live off the money of people in the area.

Mayor Eric Adams (D) built a migrant camp in August on Randall’s Island, which is anticipated to cost taxpayers $20 million every month.

A lady from Queens expressed her disapproval of the decision, saying, “We are taking away from the folks who are actually real New Yorkers.”

“I was born and raised here, on the Lower East Side of New York, and you are telling me that they come first? What gives? I pay federal, state, and local taxes for all that beauty, but my kids aren’t able to enjoy New York,” she said.

Breitbart News said on September 7 that Adams later had a negative view of illegal immigrants.

For what it’s worth, I have never faced a situation in my life that I did not think had a solution. I don’t see how this can end. I don’t see how this can end. This problem will bring down New York City, consequently bring down New York City. “Every month, 10,000 people come here,” he said.

In a recent story in the Post, Adams said that caring for the migrants who are moving into the area will cost up to $12 billion over the next three years.
